With the generous support of the Wells Fargo Foundation, we are offering free tax filing with help from our local, IRS-certified volunteers. We provide this service to any individual or family with a household income of $56,000 or less. Trained volunteers will prepare and review your tax return before filing and make sure you receive any tax credits you qualify for.

We are committed to continuing this service in accordance with statewide safety precautions.

Drive Through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

Upon your arrival at the United Way (2340 Alamo Ave SE), follow posted directions. You will be greeted and provided an intake sheet. We will then collect all needed tax documents. Wait in your vehicle or run an errand as our staff and volunteers complete your taxes. The tax preparation process typically takes 45-60 minutes. Once the return is completed, we will review your completed return with you at your car. Upon your approval, we will e-file your federal and state returns.

If volunteers are not available, we offer COVID-safe intake stations where we scan all needed tax documents, return the documents to you, and notify you when your return will be available for pick up (within 7 -10 days). All services at the United Way site require an appointment.
