Residency Classification

A student's residency classification for tuition purposes is based on information provided at the time of admission or readmission.

Residency status for tuition purposes is posted in student's myCNM student accounts.

Effective Fall 2010 term, residency classifications are:
(1) NM resident (1) who lives in the CNM tax district, or
(2) NM resident who lives outside the CNM tax district, or
(3) Non-NM Resident .

See the current tuition table above for rates based on residency classification. Your residency status for tuition purposes is posted in your my CNM account.

(1) In general, to be a resident of New Mexico for tuition purposes, a financially independent person over 18 years of age must have resided in New Mexico for a period of 12 consecutive months immediately prior to the term, have declared in writing his/her intent to be a NM resident, and must have two overt acts to support the written declaration of intent (with no out-of-state overt acts ). Click the Non-NM Resident link above for detailed information on residency including additional information on citizenship.
