LGBTQIA2S+ at CNM
Know Your Rights
The CNM LGBTQIA2S+ Community Welcomes You
We promote education about all genders and sexualities, recognize the significance of intersectionality, and encourage the self-exploration of individual identity.
We strive to build bridges with the larger New Mexico LGBTQIA2S+ community to dismantle heterosexism, gender oppression, and systemic discrimination. We seek to address and transform institutional inequities. We’re working to create a more educated, empowered, and welcoming campus community at CNM.
We Are Here to Help
Examples of anti-LGBTQIA2S+ behavior include offensive phrases (i.e. 'that's so gay'), misgendering, disrespecting pronoun preferences, transphobia, deadnaming, and more. Anti-LGBTQIA2S+ behavior is not tolerated at CNM, and we ask that you report any incidents you witness or experience.
Please alert CNM about what happened and where by contacting the Dean of Students. Reports may also be made anonymously through the Silent Witness program at (505) 224-3002.
If you are currently in a situation where immediate police, medical, psychological, or other emergency services are needed, call CNM Security at (505) 224-3001 or 911 to obtain the appropriate services.

LGBTQIA2S+ Groups
The LGBTQIA2S+ Advisory Committee works to increase inclusive practices and policies for LGBTQIA2S+ students and employees at CNM. This committee advocates for and with the LGBTQIA2S+ communities and seeks to raise awareness about LGBTQIA2S+ topics and issues.
We offer members of the CNM community a point of contact for LGBTQIA2S+ matters and commit to listening to any concerns, questions, kudos, or other experiences they wish to share. Where community members are experiencing challenges, we resolve to try to help and point them towards resources within the CNM institution. We also exist to establish allyship networks and support the other groups that make CNM a diverse community.
We invite you to reach out to the LGBTQIA2S+ Advisory Committee at [email protected].
CNM Q-Cats is the student club that works to provide a safe social and educational space for LGBTQIA2S+ students. We welcome a diverse population of ethnic, religious, political and cultural values while promoting understanding and acceptance for those marginalized as a result of sexual orientation and/or gender identity. We support a campus environment free from prejudice, harassment, and violence.
QCNM is a group for faculty and staff interested in increasing the visibility of and support for LGBTQIA2S+ people on campus. We strive to offer several social, educational, or development events per term. We also hold regular planning meetings, which are open to all LGBTQIA2S+ staff, faculty, and allies.
