Welding Technology Transfer Options
Transfer Pathways
The ENMU BAAS program is a transfer pathway for all CNM AAS degrees. Your AAS degree will transfer and apply toward the ENMU BAAS program. In addition, the ENMU BAAS program requires completion of the New Mexico General Education curriculum as part of its degree requirements. These General Education courses can be completed prior to transfer.
Below, you’ll find a list of courses that can be taken in addition to your AAS to ensure you transfer with your General Education requirements complete:
- One Creative and Fine Arts Requirement Course*
or One Laboratory Science Requirement (Lab Required)* - One Mathematics Requirement Course
- Three Multi-Discipline/Flexible Requirement Courses
*Both courses are required. Please select the course you did not complete during your associate’s degree to fulfill your General Education requirement.
In order to confirm that you have completed the General Education requirements, please schedule a meeting with your academic advisor.
BAS
The NMHU BAS program is a transfer pathway for all AAS students. The BAS program will receive a total of 30 credit hours of CTE coursework and the 31 credit hours NM General Education Core. With your AAS, you will complete the 30 credit hour CTE requirements. For students that would like to transfer with the 31 NM General Education requirement, please complete the following courses.
The following courses meet the New Mexico General Education requirements. The following courses, in addition to your AAS degree requirements, will satisfy the NMHU Gen Ed requirements:
- ECON 2110 - Macroeconomic Principles
- ECON 2120- Microeconomics Principles
- On Discipline/Flexible course
- One Creative and Fine Arts course or Laboratory Science- One lecture and One Lab
- One Mathematics course
In addition to earning your AAS degree, these are additional courses that directly fulfill NMHU BAS requirements before transferring:
- BLAW 2110 - Business Law I
- MKTG 2110 - Principles of Marketing
- MGMT 2110 - Principles of Management
In order to confirm that you have completed the General Education requirements, please schedule a meeting with your academic advisor.
OILS Program
The UNM OILS program is a transfer pathway for all AAS students. The OILS program will receive a total of 30 credit hours of CTE coursework and the 31 credit hours NM General Education Core. With your AAS, you will complete the 30 credit hour CTE requirements. For students that would like to transfer with the 31 NM General Education requirement, please complete the following courses.
In addition to your associate degree, you can complete the following courses, which meet New Mexico General Education requirements. These General Education courses are also required for the OILS program:
- One Creative and Fine Arts Requirement Course*
or
- One Laboratory Science Requirement (Lab Optional)*
- One Mathematics Requirement Course
- Three Multi-Discipline/Flexible Requirement Courses
In addition to completing your General Education courses as outlined above, the following courses directly fulfill UNM OILS program requirements prior to transfer. Please select two courses from the list below:
- BCIS 1110 - Fundamentals of Information Literacy and Systems
- BUSA 1110 - Introduction to Business
- COMM 1130 - Public Speaking
- COMM 2120 - Interpersonal Communication
- COMM 2180 - Business and Professional Communication
- COMM 2223 - Introduction to Nonverbal Communication Studies
*Both courses are required. Please select the course you did not complete during your associate’s degree to fulfill your General Education requirement.

Learn About the Welding Program at CNM
The Welding program teaches blueprint reading, mathematics, metallurgy, and other welding technology. Earn an Associate of Applied Science or certificate and pursue work as a Welder, Rebar Worker, and more.
