CNM’s Compensation Philosophy
Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) recognizes that the work of faculty and staff is our greatest resource and determines the quality of our institution. Rooted in our mission, vision, and values, CNM’s compensation philosophy is focused on ensuring compensation practices are equitable and competitive in the current market.
To achieve this as a public community college, CNM regularly benchmarks its compensation practices against industry standards and market trends to ensure ongoing competitiveness. The compensation philosophy also incorporates total rewards, the combination of salary and comprehensive benefits, to attract and retain the diverse and high-caliber workforce needed to advance the Strategic Goals of the College.
CNM’s Compensation Principles
- Provide a robust and competitive Total Rewards package, which in addition to compensation includes comprehensive benefits and wellness, recognition programs, and a generous state pension system.
- Ensure CNM’s compensation philosophy and practices result in equity, efficiency, and transparency.
- Negotiate in good faith with CNM employees represented by a collective bargaining unit, where compensation is negotiated through the collective bargaining process.
- Ensure CNM’s compensation for employees is competitive and equitable in the current market against public and/or private sectors as appropriate by regularly benchmarking compensation practices against relevant standards and market trends.
- Invest in employees' professional development to achieve their current or future career goals.
