New Student Orientation

CNM's New Student Orientation will introduce you to resources and concepts to help you be successful in your first year of college.

In CNM's New Student Orientations, you will explore resources available at CNM and participate in activities to prepare for the start of your college career. If you have questions or need additional information, please don't hesitate to reach out via [email protected] or (505) 224-3352.

Important Details

  • Be sure to have your CNM student ID number and username available. 
  • In addition to attending orientation, you should meet with an advisor. 
  • Advisement will not be offered during orientation sessions.
  • Once you have attended an orientation and registered for classes, you may then attend a Campus Catwalk to familiarize yourself with our campuses. Please note that Campus Catwalks are campus tours, not orientation.

Orientation Types

CNM offers different New Student Orientations to fit your student type. We also an online Family and Ally Module for family members who want to know how to support a student during their time in college. 

Some certificate and degree programs require an additional orientation program. Check with your academic school to find out if your program requires an additional orientation program.

Beginning Freshman Orientation

All first-time, full-time beginning freshmen should complete New Student Orientation after registering for classes. Beginning freshmen can choose from two orientation options. 
Dual Credit Student Orientation

Dual Credit students are high school students taking college courses. New Dual Credit students are required to complete this online orientation module before registering for classes. 
Transfer and Returning Student Orientation

If you are applying as a returning or transfer student, you will complete a different online orientation to ensure you have the relevant information. This online orientation should be completed after registering for classes. 
CNM Online Student Orientation

CNM Online orientations are only for students who are specifically enrolled in CNM’s Online college. The orientation link is provided in your CNM Admissions letter and must be completed before registering for classes. 
Adult Basic Education Orientation

New GED/ HSE/ ESL students (or students that have been out of the program for one year) must attend a virtual orientation.
Global Education Student Orientation

International students in the Global Education program are required to attend an additional New Student Orientation program. Contact your DSO for more information.

Opciones de orientación en español

  • Opción uno: Inscríbanse para una sesión de orientación de forma presencial en español. Las sesiones de orientación presenciales en español se ofrecen una vez por semestre.
  • Opción dos: Asistan a una sesión de orientación de forma presencial o por Zoom en inglés y soliciten un intérprete de español. Las sesiones presenciales y por Zoom en inglés se ofrecen varias veces cada semestre. Sigan los pasos a continuación para inscribirse:
    1. Inicien sesión en su cuenta utilizando su correo electrónico de CNM y la contraseña de myCNM.
    2. Seleccionen el semestre y el campus universitario que desean.
    3. Revisen las fechas y horas disponibles y seleccionen una sesión.
    4. Completen los campos que se requieren y luego envíen el formulario de inscripción.
    5. Consulten el correo electrónico de confirmación enviado a su dirección de correo electrónico de CNM para más detalles.
  • Opción tres: Lleven a cabo una orientación en línea a su propio ritmo en español en cualquier momento durante el semestre.
