New Student Orientation

CNM's New Student Orientation will introduce you to resources and concepts to help you be successful in your first year of college.

Questions?

Students will explore resources available at CNM and participate in activities to prepare for the start of their college careers. Be sure to have your CNM student ID number and username available. It is also helpful to have paper and a pen or pencil to take notes with.

As a new student you will not be able to register for classes until you complete your orientation, so plan to complete it before open registration begins for the term you are planning on attending. You can complete the orientation whenever it is convenient for you.

Orientations

Dual Credit Orientation

Dual Credit students are high school students taking college courses and are required to complete this online orientation module.

Dual Credit Online Orientation

Beginning Freshman

All first-time, full-time beginning freshmen are required to complete new student orientation before registering for classes.

Beginning freshmen can choose from two options to satisfy their orientation requirement.

Transfer and Returning

If you are applying as a returning or transfer student, you will complete a different online orientation.

CNM Online

CNM Online orientations are only for students who are specifically enrolled in CNM’s Online college. The orientation link is provided in your CNM Admissions letter. For more information about CNM Online visit the CNM Online website. If you have any questions about your student type, please speak with your advisor.

Family and Ally Sessions

A separate Family and Ally Session is available online. Parent and Ally Zoom Orientation Sessions will be held periodically for family members or those who you deem an important part of your support system. Find available dates and sign up for a session on our Beginning Freshman Orientation page.

The family session will cover similar information as the New Student Orientation session, with a special focus on techniques to support a student during their time in college. We do not currently offer Spanish translation services.

Registration and Advisement

While you will become familiar with the registration process, you will not register for classes during the regular orientation session.

In addition to attending orientation, as a new student, you must meet with an advisor before you are able to register for classes. These two requirements can be completed in any order. However, advisement will not be offered during orientation sessions. Schedule an appointment with an advisor.
