Transfer Course (NM) Equivalencies

New Mexico Colleges and Universities

If you answer “yes” to any of these questions, you may find the answer you need here.

  1. Are you a student who has attended another New Mexico college or university, but now plan to enroll at CNM?
  2. Are you a current CNM student planning to take courses (or enroll concurrently) at another New Mexico college or university in order to transfer those courses back?
  3. Are you an advisor needing information as to which course(s) meet an advisee's plan?

Along with the equivalency information found here, what general policy information is important to know? Click on the following links to learn more.

General Equivalency Guidelines

  • Courses will only be evaluated for CNM credit upon receipt of an official, unopened transcript, after the student has been admitted.
  • The CNM GPA is based solely on courses taken at CNM. Courses transferred into CNM will be recorded on your CNM transcript as ‘TR’ for grades C or better, or ‘TRD’ for courses for a letter grade ‘D’ (New Mexico schools only).

Note: This list does not constitute a guarantee of transferability. It is to be used as a general guide only. The list will be updated no less than once a year, generally to reflect catalog year changes. Review the transfer policies for more information.

Equivalency List

If the equivalency information you need is not included in the list, or your school does not appear on the list, you'll need to submit your official transcript to the CNM Records office for evaluation.

The evaluation will determine equivalency. In general, career and technical courses taken elsewhere need to be evaluated by the academic division here at CNM where those programs reside. List of New Mexico colleges that have transfer courses evaluated for CNM.

Satisfy Requirements

If a course taken elsewhere transfers in as a CNM equivalent, refer to your CNM program requirements to determine if that course is applicable. See an Academic Coach to determine program-specific requirements.
