Earn Credit for What You Know
CNM programs offer credit for what you know. Look for the Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) language under the 'Additional Information' tile on our program pages.
Your Experience Has Value
If you’ve spent years working in healthcare, the trades, the military, or another field, there’s a good chance you already have the knowledge CNM would ask you to learn.
CNM's Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) program awards college credit for that knowledge - through exams, industry credentials, military transcripts, and portfolio assessment - so you can finish your degree faster and at lower cost.
Eligibility: In order to apply for and receive credit for what you know, you must be an active CNM certificate or degree-seeking student.
Three Ways to Earn Credit for What You Know
Pass It
- Take and pass a Standardized Exam
- Take and pass a Challenge Exam
Prove It
- Prove your level of knowledge for a course by developing an electronic learning portfolio and submitting it for Portfolio Assessment.
Provide It
- Submit military training and occupation transcripts.
- Submit current, valid industry certifications or licenses.
- Submit transcripts or a Certificate of Completion from CNM Ingenuity, Inc. training, such as a Deep Dive Coding Bootcamp
- Submit appropriate documentation to earn credit for training accomplished through one of our Community Partners.
If your specific prior learning is not listed, you may submit a Request for Evaluation of Prior Learning form.
Policy and Appeal: Read CNM's CPL Policy and how the appeal process works.
