Magda Martinez-BacaDirector (Main/Montoya Campus) Magda Martinez-Baca, Director of TRIO Student Support Services, has been an advocate for educational opportunity throughout her career. Prior to her work with TRIO, she worked in New Mexico and Texas with educational grant programs. She is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and received her bachelor's degree in Psychology. Willie SmokerTRIO Achievement Coach (Main Campus) Willie Smoker is a first-generation college graduate and CNM Alumni with a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology and Training and a Masters in Educational Leadership. He has served underrepresented and diverse populations of students for more than a decade. Chuck BaznerTRIO Administrative Coordinator (Main Campus) Chuck Bazner has been an instructor for 13 years at the college level and a K-12 teacher for three years. He has experience teaching a large variety of classes and tutoring for multiple subjects. He was also a corporate trainer for 25 years. Jimi SanchezTRIO Achievement Coach (Montoya Campus) Jimi Sanchez is a native New Mexican and TRIO alumnus. He came back to school as a 45-year-old freshman and has received his Master of Science in the Organization, Information and Learning Sciences. Jimi is also a McNair Scholar. Amber LuceroTRIO Administrative Coordinator (Montoya Campus) Amber is a native New Mexican, as well as a CNM and TRIO alumni and has worked in higher education at UNM and CNM. She is currently working on her Accounting degree at Eastern New Mexico University. Amber has been civically engaged in the community, volunteering with TaxHelp NM for 13 years and being a team mom for a youth wrestling program. Siobhan MayTRIO Biology/A&P/Microbiology/Health/Math Tutor (Main Campus) Siobhan is a self-described school addict. She earned her BA in 2011 with a double major in History and German. Siobhan spent several years working in special needs schools before returning to college intent on becoming a medical professional. In addition to working for TRIO as a tutor, Siobhan works as a Physical Therapist Assistant. In her free time, she practices martial arts, Middle Eastern Dance, and drawing. Jaime DenisonTRIO Math Tutor (Montoya Campus) Jaime Denison is a tutor in mathematics and was a TRIO student at the University of the Pacific. Studying philosophy, he received a bachelor’s degree from the University of the Pacific, a master’s degree from the University of California, Irvine, and a PhD from the University of New Mexico. He has several years of experience teaching his own courses in writing and philosophy at the college level, as well as a few years of tutoring mathematics, physics, and logic. Cristel Tellez-FuentesTRIO Biology/Chemistry Tutor (Montoya Campus) Cristel is currently working on her Fine Arts and Biology Associates at CNM, and she is excited to work with TRIO SSS and help students succeed in their educational goals.
