First Cohort of CNM Ingenuity’s Quantum Technician Bootcamp Set to Launch September 29

This cutting-edge bootcamp will prepare learners to land in-demand, high-paying jobs in the booming quantum technology industry in just 10 short weeks
July 29, 2025
CNM Ingenuity is excited to announce that the first Quantum Technician bootcamp cohort will begin on September 29. This bootcamp was developed specifically to meet industry demand, as quantum information technology companies continue to expand in New Mexico and beyond, with starting pay expected to be $65,000 to $85,000 per year for entry level technicians.

“Quantum information technology companies and careers are at an inflection point of becoming more mainstream and commercialized,” says Brian Rashap, instructor for the Quantum Technician Bootcamp. “As this transition continues, the workforce is going to need people who are good at servicing and troubleshooting quantum systems, and that’s exactly what this bootcamp will prepare learners to do.”

Similar to other Deep Dive programs, the Quantum Technician bootcamp will run Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for 10 weeks. During this time, learners will be in the new state-of-the-art Quantum Learning Lab (QuLL) located at FUSE Makerspace, completing extensive hands-on learning activities. They will also receive instruction from Brian, Shawn Morales, a former manufacturing technician with Intel, and Megan Ivory, a quantum scientist from Sandia National Laboratories.

The bootcamp will cover several aspects of the quantum industry, including:
  • Optics and Photonics: lasers, detectors, beam tuning and manipulation
  • Ultra-High Vacuum Systems: assembly, operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Quantum Phenomenon and Quantum Information Systems

There are no pre-requisites for this bootcamp, and Brian wants to encourage folks to not be intimidated by the math or science concepts associated with quantum technologies.

“We will teach you all of the math and science you need to know during the bootcamp, and it will be taught in an engaging and practical way," Brian says. “Whether a learner is coming to this bootcamp straight out of high school or is someone who hasn’t been in school for years, I want to reassure them that there’s nothing to be afraid of.”

The first cohort will consist of eight learners, and will expand to serve up to 12 learners starting with the Spring 2026 cohort. Scholarships are also available to cover up to 100% of the cost of tuition for most learners.

As Brian prepares for the first cohort to start in September, he is excited to see students thrive and grow in this immersive learning environment.

“I love when students get to engage with something they didn’t think was possible, and I think this will be especially true of this program,” he says. “This is going to be a special experience for folks, and I truly can’t wait to see the accelerated learning and growth that I know will happen with this group of students. It is also a unique opportunity for students to gain critical technical skills while also getting to help make the program better for the next cohort.”
