Family Financial Literacy (FIN 1010)

CNM was awarded a grant funded by Ascend--The Aspen Institute. This grant will be used to create a multigenerational approach to financial literacy and homework help services.

Course Description

Recommended: Reading & Writing Skills 2*

FIN 1010 Introduces students to the basics of money management and financial skills necessary to meet real-world challenges. The course is interactive and will cover concepts and decision making through illustrations and real-life problems. Topics covered include budgeting, managing money, borrowing money and planning for the future.

* Students should have basic reading and writing skills for this course.

September 23rd – December 15th, 2019

  • English Class: Thursdays, 5:30–7:15 p.m. 
  • Spanish Class: Thursdays, 5:30–7:15 p.m.

To Qualify

  • Please complete the application in the right-hand column.
  • Students must have children between the ages of 6–15 who will be participating in the program.
  • You must attend all 12 weeks of class.

Cost

Tuition cost for this class is approximately $165.00. Fees and Tuition vary based on student residency status. 

Scholarship Available 

This scholarship will cover the tuition and fees associated with the Family Financial Literacy course for students who do not receive federal or state aid. 

To be consider for the scholarship, please start by filling out the Scholarship Application and we recommend to also complete the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students who qualify will be reviewed through the Scholarship Application and will be contacted if you are approved.
