Alternative Teacher Licensure Program Application Form - Part 1

  • Submitted official transcripts to our CNM Records team?

If you answered YES to the above questions, you are ready to proceed with this application.

This form serves as Part 1 of your official application to the Alternative Teacher Licensure Program. As part of this form we will be collecting the following information from you:

  • Personal Information
  • Degree Information
  • Licensure Information
  • Teacher Candidate Disposition Self Assessment
  • Personal Teaching Philosophy Statement
  • Application Agreements

Only complete applications will be reviewed. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and will be screened within 14 business days of receipt of a completed application.

Complete applications must be received by:

  • December 1st -to be considered for a spring start date
  • April 15th -to be considered for a summer start date
  • August 1st -to be considered for a fall start date

High Need Areas: CNM strives to fill the needs of area schools by giving priority to candidates who are qualified to teach in designated high need areas. We are currently recruiting teachers in the areas of special education, elementary education, secondary math and science, and bilingual elementary.

NM PED licenses held   Do you currently hold a NM PED issued license (EA, substitute, or other)?


License(s) you are seeking   By selecting the following licensure pathway, you are certifying that you meet the qualifications for the chosen route for teacher licensure. You will be required to submit a Transcript Analysis Form (Part 2 of this application) for each licensure area you select.
Education Coursework   Have you previously taken college courses in Education? NOTE: Previous Education coursework can only be considered if completed within the last 5 years, and is 300 level or above.

I certify that statements made by me in this application are true, complete and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief. I understand that any false statements, misrepresentations or omissions made by me on my application or during the application process shall be grounds for refusal to be admitted to CNM's Alternative Teacher Licensure Program.
I understand that submission of this application and meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.
I understand that completion of CNM's ATL Program does not guarantee employment.
I understand that a complete application includes this application form, a Transcript Analysis Form, official transcripts submitted to CNM's Records office and passing results of the required teacher licensure assessments. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
I certify that I have the ability to pass a Criminal Background check.
I understand that the coursework in the program is rigorous and is structured for post-baccalaureate students.
I understand that most communication within the ATL Program is done via CNM email and that I must have a CNM email address during the time I am enrolled in the Program and will check it weekly.
I understand that it is expected of me to adhere to all Program deadlines.
I understand that as a student in CNM's ATL Program I will be evaluated upon my academic abilities as well as my professional behaviors towards faculty, staff, peers, and community members.
I understand that if I am admitted to the ATL Program I must demonstrate competency by earning a grade of B or higher in all ATLP coursework leading up to the Supervised Field Experience course.

1) Submit Part 2 of the Application: Transcript Analysis Form for either Early Childhood/Elementary/Special Education or Secondary Education.
