Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Between Central New Mexico Community College and the Central New Mexico Community College Employees Union

WHEREAS, the Central New Mexico Community College and the Central New Mexico Employees Union shall be collectively identified as the “Parties” in this MOU.

WHEREAS, the Central New Mexico Community College (“College) and the Central New Mexico Employees Union (Union”) have completed negotiations on a successor Collective Bargaining Agreement (“CBA”) to their current CBA, and

WHEREAS, the successor CBA does not contain a compensation increase for employees in the ISU bargaining unit, and

WHEREAS, the Parties are prepared to continue discussions related to employee compensation during the 2020-2021 academic year,

NOW, THEREFORE, the Parties agree as follows:

  1. Upon request by either Party, the Parties shall meet periodically at mutually acceptable times to discuss the possibility and feasibility of a compensation increase for employees in the ISU bargaining unit during the 2020-2021 academic year.

  2. If the Parties agree a compensation increase during 2020-2021 academic year is possible and feasible, the Parties will re-open negotiations on the single item of a compensation increase.

  3. The Parties shall utilize the provisions of the Labor Management Committee to discuss during the term of this agreement, compensation issues related to the College’s compensation brackets, including recommendations from the CNMEU. The CNMEU Vice-President shall represent the CNMEU at these meetings, and the Vice-President may be accompanied by an additional CNMEU representative. Upon request of either party and at a mutually agreed upon time, the College representative(s) responsible for administering the bracket study and implementation shall attend the bracket compensation sessions.

  4. The above commitments shall not be interpreted by the either Party as a guarantee or a commitment by the College to provide a compensation increase during the 2020-2021 academic year.

  5. This MOU shall commence upon ratification of this MOU and the tentative successor CBA by the CNMEU membership and the College. The MOU shall expire on August 31, 2022.
