BooksPlus Helps Students Be Ready on Day One

Starting a new term is exciting, but finding the right textbooks and equipment can be time-consuming, stressful, and confusing. And starting classes without the required course materials can mean falling behind the very first week.

Beginning with the 2027 Spring Term, CNM is launching BooksPlus, a new program designed to conveniently provide required course materials to students before classes begin, so students are ready to start learning on day one.

How BooksPlus Works

With BooksPlus, required course materials are provided automatically for a standard fee of $28 per credit hour. That means fewer things to navigate and more predictable costs each term.

• Digital materials are delivered through Brightspace and update automatically if you add or drop a course. Some digital materials also include study tools such as highlighting, flash cards, and note-sharing.
• Physical books, program-specific equipment, and uniforms are available for pickup at the CNM Bookstore before classes start.
• If you drop a course after receiving physical materials, you’ll need to return those items to the Bookstore.

What It Means for Students

BooksPlus is centered around a few simple, but valuable benefits:

• With your required materials easily accessible and in hand, you’re ready to participate fully on day one.
• A flat per-credit-hour fee makes it easier to plan and budget.
• No more hunting for the right edition, comparing sellers, or wondering whether you have the correct materials.
• Many digital materials come with built-in study tools to help you learn.

You Stay in Control

BooksPlus is optional. Students who prefer to purchase their required materials on their own may opt out each term. CNM will provide instructions and deadlines for opting out before the Spring Term begins.

Faculty will continue to choose the materials that best support their courses, including Open Educational Resources. BooksPlus does not impact academic freedom.
