CNM Announces Education & Learning Leadership Transition
Dr. Amardeep Kahlon will step down in December; Dr. Nireata Seals will serve as the interim while a nationwide search is conducted
Dr. Amardeep Kahlon has announced that she will be stepping down as the Vice President of Education & Learning on Dec. 4. President Tracy Hartzler has appointed Dr. Nireata Seals to serve as Interim Vice President of Education & Learning until a permanent vice president is selected through a national search.
Since joining CNM in January 2024, Dr. Kahlon has made significant contributions to the college, including strengthening communication and collaboration with faculty and deans across our schools; building partnerships with the Division of Workforce & Community Success to improve career pathways for our learners; increasing alignment between Education & Learning and CNM Ingenuity; and leveraging her expertise and networks to advance competency-based education.
“I appreciate Dr. Kahlon’s leadership, her many lasting contributions, and her commitment to CNM’s students, faculty, and staff,” President Hartzler said. “Please join me in thanking Dr. Kahlon for her service and wishing her well in her next chapter.”
Dr. Seals will also continue serving as Executive Vice President of the Learner Journey during the national search, which will begin in December. CNM will provide updates throughout the search and hold public forums with finalists so the CNM community can provide valuable feedback.
Dr. Seals will support the important initiatives currently taking place in Education & Learning, ensure continuity of current operations, and provide steady and supportive leadership as CNM searches for the next permanent Vice President.
Dr. Seals brings leadership experience in both academic affairs and student services. Before joining CNM in June 2021 as Vice President of Enrollment Management & Student Success, she served in several leadership roles at LaGuardia Community College in the City University of New York system. Those roles included Interim Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Vice President of Student Affairs and Associate Provost. She has also taught as an adjunct faculty member at several institutions.
“I want to thank all of our outstanding faculty and staff in Education & Learning for the exceptional work you do on a daily basis to help our students learn, grow, and achieve their goals,” President Hartzler said. “As a community college that is highly regarded regionally and nationally, I’m very confident that we will attract an impressive pool of candidates, and we’ll identify the right leader to successfully guide Education & Learning into the future.”
