The festival will feature live music, a student and alumni art market, arts-focused activities, and more
June 02, 2025

CNM’s Marketing and Communications Office and the Office of Student Life are excited to host the first annual Festival of the Arts from 12-4:30 p.m. on June 10 on Main Campus in the Student Resource Center Quad. This event will be a celebration of CNM’s student and alumni artists and a family-friendly afternoon open to all community members.

The festival will also be the official unveiling of the new student signage installation outside the Main Campus Library and is designed to promote the arts as an ever-evolving career field.

“The arts are rarely highlighted in higher education, yet a background in fine arts is applicable to countless rewarding career opportunities,” says Colton Davies, Interim Director of Brand Strategy for CNM’s Marketing and Communications Office. “As we coordinated the installation of the signage, we saw the opportunity to celebrate both the winning artist and the arts at CNM more broadly. The Office of Student Life was also in the early planning phases of an outdoor summer concert, so we decided to join forces to build an unforgettable event that we hope to repeat for years to come.”

Along with a student and alumni art market, there will be several other activities for attendees to enjoy including:

  • Live music from Mike Mares of The NOMS,  The Metamorfos, and student performers
  • Free food vouchers for the first 100 students to food trucks like Wow Wow Lemonade and Red Taco Shop
  • Interactive, arts-focused activities like a collaborative mural and improv exercises
  • Unveiling ceremony for student-designed signage
  • Giveaways throughout the event

Ultimately, Colton and the CNM Student Life team hope this event underscores the importance of the arts and how they can help us connect with ourselves and the community.

“Hosting the Festival of the Arts will give us a chance to shine a light on the creative talent at CNM, and remind us that arts aren’t just something extra,” says Brittany Karnezis, Director of Student Life. “They’re how we tell stories, connect with each other, and make meaning in the world. It feels really special to be starting a new tradition that puts the arts at the center of CNM.”
