Family members, friends, and law enforcement officers from across New Mexico packed the Smith Brasher Hall Auditorium last week to proudly watch 16 cadets graduate from CNM’s Law Enforcement Academy. Those graduates represented nine different law enforcement agencies including:

  • Bosque Farms Police Department
  • Cuba Police Department
  • Estancia Police Department
  • Los Lunas Police Department
  • New Mexico Fire Marshal’s Office
  • Rio Rancho Police Department
  • Sandoval Country Sheriff’s Office
  • University of New Mexico Police Department
  • Valencia County Sheriff’s Office

“It’s an honor for me to be here with these cadets, and I’m so proud that this Law Enforcement Academy has helped prepare you for this extremely important police work and public service,” said CNM President Tracy Harztler, who opened the graduation ceremony. “It’s obvious that all of you have a strong set of values that have led you to public service, and those values will continue to light your way forward throughout your career.”

During the ceremony, graduates were awarded for their accomplishments during the academy and listened to Rio Rancho Mayor Greggory Hull, who gave the keynote speech.

Each cadet had his or her badge pinned on by a family member or fellow officer, and now the officers continue on to their individual academies for more training en route to becoming full-fledged police officers.
