CNM Ingenuity, Local Startup Partner to Provide Easy Access to Robot Technology

Aug. 18, 2017 -- CNM Ingenuity, Inc., the 501(c)3 enterprise arm of Central New Mexico Community College, and Build With Robots, an Albuquerque-based startup, are teaming up to introduce the fast-growing technology of Collaborative Robots (cobots) to central New Mexico’s economy and to those interested in learning about the technology and applications of cobots.

CNM Named National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense

August 16, 2017 -- CNM has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Defense. School officials learned about the acceptance last week and will receive its CAE certificate at a National Initiative for Cyber Security Education (NICE) conference Nov. 7-8 in Dayton, Ohio.

CNM Flamenco Instructor Honored by ‘Dance Teacher’ Magazine

July 18, 2017 -- CNM flamenco instructor Bridgit Lujan has been selected for the 2017 Higher Education Dance Teacher Award, a national teaching award from “Dance Teacher” magazine that recognizes four dance educators from the U.S. every year. She and the other recipients in different dance categories will be honored at an awards ceremony in Long Beach, Calif., Aug. 5.

Five CNM Students Win Medals at National SkillsUSA Championships

June 28, 2017 -- Five CNM students earned medals at this year’s National SkillsUSA Championships held last week in Louisville, Ky., where 6,000 Career Technical Education (CTE) students from around the country put their skills to the test. It’s the largest showcase event in the country for CTE students.

CNM Conducts Drone Workshops for Mapping Professionals

June 28, 2017 -- Thirty members of New Mexico’s surveying and mapping community attended CNM-sponsored workshops May 19 and June 2 on the operation of small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS), commonly known as drones, and using an onboard camera to obtain mapping data and produce digital terrain models.

CNM to Rejuvenate Plumbing and Gas Fitting Program

June 27, 2017 -- After being dormant for several terms, the School of Applied Technologies is rejuvenating the Plumbing and Gas Fitting Program, and courses are being offered for the 2017 Fall Term. This effort will be led by newly-hired, full-time instructor Kenny Graves.
