About Construction Management Technology at CNM

Program Objectives

The Construction Management Technology program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities to contribute effectively on a construction team. Our program objectives are to:

  • Serve students with diverse backgrounds. Students hoping to enter the construction industry, students currently working within industry, and students who have been in industry for several years and wish to advance their career by broadening their knowledge and skills.
  • Serve students with diverse educational goals. Students whose educational goals are a certificate, an associate degree, or students wishing to transfer to a four-year program.
  • Serve students by providing an accessible program of study.
  • Serve students and industry by providing a comprehensive and relevant program of study.
  • Serve students and the community by facilitating student’s achievement of their educational goal and\or finding employment.

ACCE LogoOur program is flexible for you to earn a certificate, an associate degree, or graduate from CNM and transfer to a four-year university.

The Construction Management Technology program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

Students who attend the Construction Management Technology will come out of the program with the following skills:

  • Demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate the ability to estimate quantities and costs for the bidding process in a construction project.
  • Demonstrate the ability to schedule a basic construction project.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use current technology related to the construction process.
  • Interpret construction documents (contracts, specifications, and drawings) used in managing a construction project.
  • Apply basic principles of construction accounting.
  • Use basic surveying techniques used in building layout.
  • Discuss basic principles of ethics in the construction industry.
  • Identify the fundamentals of contracts, codes, and regulations that govern a construction project.
  • Recognize basic construction methods, materials and equipment.
  • Recognize basic safety hazards on a construction site and standard prevention measures.
  • Recognize the basic principles of structural design.
  • Recognize the basic principles of mechanical, electrical, and piping systems.
