About CNM Theatre

The CNM Theatre Department offers professional classes in acting for the stage and camera, theatre design as well as screen and playwriting.

Thanks to a new partnership with the Vortex Theater, situated right off the Main Campus, we run acting and design classes in the theater space, offering students an actual theatre atmosphere for their work. We hold open auditions for student shows at the Vortex Theater in the fall and spring terms. All are invited to audition.

The CNM Theatre Department has a staff that is well-connected, well-informed, and in a position to guide students who are interested in pursuing the performing arts. We invite you to join us in what has become a dynamic time here in the Albuquerque performing arts arena.

Theatre in New Mexico

With the evolution of the film industry here in New Mexico, the demand for local technical and performing artists has increased considerably. Students involved in film acting and screenwriting are finding opportunities on local shoots and producing their own films. The local theatre scene has been growing as well, gaining national attention. There are now more thriving theatres in Albuquerque than ever before.
