Program Information
A sonographer is a health care professional who uses high-frequency sound waves as a diagnostic tool to view the human body in order to aid the physician in the diagnosis of illness. You will study the use of sound waves to generate images of various parts of the human body.
As a graduate, you will have the ability to conceptualize in three-dimensional form. The program provides classroom didactic instruction, hands-on scanning, laboratory instruction, and clinical experiences in a variety of medical facilities and outpatient diagnostic centers.
You will be trained to sit for the national board exams administered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, or Cardiovascular Credentialing International, in the specialty areas of “Adult Cardiac” and “Vascular” sonography. Successful completion of these exams results in attaining the RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) and the RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) credentials offered by the ARDMS, respectively, or the RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) and RVS (Registered Vascular Specialist) credentials offered by CCI, respectively.
