Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program

The Medical Assistant (MA) Apprenticeship Program provides students and employers with a pathway to developing job-ready healthcare professionals.

MA Apprenticeship Program Requirements

  • Applicant must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Provide a high school diploma, GED, or other high school equivalency credentials.
  • Live in New Mexico.
  • Be physically capable of performing the tasks required by the trade.
  • Be able to pass a drug screening and background check (through the employer, not CNM).
  • Provide a copy of required immunizations. 

Training and Certification 

  • Learn necessary skills with on-the-job learning and classroom instruction provided by CNM. 
  • Receive mentoring from an experienced professional in the healthcare field. 
  • Improve your earning potential with your Registered Medical Assistant (AMT) Certification. 
  • The MA Apprenticeship Program is a one-year commitment. 

How to Get Started

    1. Submit the MA Apprenticeship Program Interest Form.
    2. You will be prompted to make an account and submit required documents for the program through our Apprenticescope software.
    3. Once your submitted required documents are approved, your application is complete.
    4. Next you will need to be hired by an employer that is willing to teach an apprentice.
    5. When hired by an employer, you will then be an apprentice.
    6. Work, learn and take courses for approximately one year to become a certified Registered Medical Assistant (AMT).
