Class registration will be based on your TABE exam scores.
New Adult Basic Education (ABE) students must complete the ABE Application before scheduling TABE tests.
TABE tests are offered in-person at Main, Montoya, Rio Rancho, and Westside Campuses or can be taken remotely online from your home computer.
New HSE/ESL students are encouraged to take their first exam in person at a campus. If you live outside of the Albuquerque Metro area and cannot come to a campus, please email [email protected].
If you need accommodation due to a disability or medical condition, this must be arranged in advance before scheduling an exam through Accessibility Services.
High School Equivalency (HSE) Testing
There are three TABE tests for HSE: Reading, Language Arts, and Math.
HSE students must take the TABE Reading test or the TABE Language Arts test to be registered for language arts courses.
HSE students must take the TABE Math test to be registered for math courses.
English as a Second Language (ESL) Testing
There are two TABE CLAS-E tests for ESL: CLAS-E Reading and CLAS-E Listening.
ESL students must take both exams to be registered for ESL classes. Locator tests must be taken to establish specific CLAS-E Reading and CLAS-E Listening tests to be administered.
