Types of Claims We Can Help With

  • Vehicle: damage to an official CNM vehicle, rental, or third-party vehicle
  • Property: damage to CNM property (buildings, assets, etc)
  • General Liability: negligence/breach of legal duty on behalf of CNM (Torts)
  • Workers’ Compensation: injury or illness to employee during or due to scope of employment
Report Auto Damage

If you experience damage to your vehicle on CNM property or you are involved in an accident with a CNM Official Vehicle:

  • Ensure you are safely out of the way of traffic.
  • Report the accident to CNM Security at (505) 224-3002.
  • Call 911 or non-emergency services at (505) 242-2677 if there are injuries or if the vehicle is disabled.

If you are an employee using a CNM Vehicle:

  • Call 911 for medical assistance if there are injuries.
  • Do not move vehicle unless instructed by police.
  • Obtain proof of insurance, driver’s license, and contact information of any other parties involved.
  • Report accident to CNM Security at (505) 224-3002.
  • Notify your supervisor.
  • Obtain any witness reports/statements.
  • Obtain a police report (at scene or after at substation).

Please refer to CNM vehicle ID card and directive in the glove compartment.

Report Property Damage

Damage to CNM property must be reported immediately to CNM Security at (505) 224-3002. CNM has the responsibility to protect the College property from any further damage or loss. If you experience damage to your personal property, please ensure that you take measures to protect your property from any further damage or loss. If you estimate the damages may total $5,000 or more, report the incident to Risk Management as soon as reasonably possible.

Important information to have when reporting property damage:

  • Damaged item and location of damage on the item
  • Location where damage occurred (building name, classroom number, etc.)
  • Date and time of incident
  • Description and photos of damage
  • How damage occurred
Request Certificates of Insurance 

If you need to request a Certificate of Insurance (COI), please email [email protected].

Please note: CNM is a public entity in the state of New Mexico. Therefore, we cannot add any organization/individual as an additional insured, nor can we add a waiver of subrogation for any purpose. Any contractual agreements must be cleared by the Office of General Counsel before a COI can be issued.

Please provide the following information when requesting a COI:

  • Company/organization name
  • Complete mailing address
  • Purpose of COI (conducting on-site work, partnering for event, etc.)
  • Type of insurance coverage required (general liability, auto, worker’s comp, etc.)
  • Minimum required coverage limits
  • Date(s) of event/contract period
  • Email address or contact info for delivery
Request Drone Use

Use of drones, or small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS), on CNM property must be in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements and any other applicable regulations. Recreational use of sUAS on CNM property by students, faculty, staff, or third parties (visitors or public) is strictly prohibited. All requests for commercial sUAS use must be submitted to Risk Management using the Drone Flight Request Form.

Drone usage for Educational or Official College Business Purposes

CNM employees or students using sUAS for educational purposes must follow all applicable FAA guidelines, as well as any applicable CNM policies and procedures. Please see Small Unmanned Aircraft procedures for more information.

Accident Reporting

If any operation of a sUAS results in injury to any person, or damage to property, it must be reported to the FAA by the pilot no later than 10 calendar days after the incident. CNM Security must be notified as soon as reasonably possible, and a copy of the FAA accident report must be forwarded to CNM Security by the pilot upon receipt.

Report an On-Campus Injury

If you are in need of immediate medical attention, dial 911 or CNM Emergency Dispatch at (505) 224-3001.

CNM asks all parties who are injured on CNM property to report injuries to CNM Security at (505) 224-3002 as soon as possible. Prompt reporting supports our ability to ensure that appropriate medical attention can be provided, hazards can be addressed, and documentation can be completed. Please notify Risk Management within 24 hours. Any losses reported after 90 days of the incident may not be covered by insurance.

If you are staff or faculty:

If you are a student:

  • Notify CNM Security.
  • Notify your instructor.
  • Seek medical treatment at a Concentra medical facility.
  • If you are a student participating in Health, Wellness & Public Safety, or any other clinical/field program, please refer to your student handbook for blood-borne pathogen exposures and other injury protocols.

If you are a visitor:

  • Notify CNM Security for first aid assistance.
  • Seek medical treatment at a nearby medical facility.
  • EMS via 911 can assist with medical transport if necessary.
  • CNM Safety/Risk Management will investigate and address hazards associated with your injury once security incident report is received.
Report an Off-Campus Injury

If you are a student or visitor and experience an injury while participating in an off-campus CNM activity:

If you are a CNM staff or faculty member and you experience and injury or illness off-campus:

  • Notify 911 or CNM Emergency Dispatch at (505) 224-3001 in case of an emergency.
  • Call CNM Security at (505) 224-3000 and report your injury.
  • Seek medical care at a Concentra medical facility.
  • Notify your supervisor.
  • Complete a Notice of Accident form and return to Human Resources as soon as reasonably possible.
Report Workers' Compensation

In the event of illness or injury on CNM property, an employee should provide or request first aid assistance and follow the steps outlined below.

  • Life-Threatening Situations: Immediately call 911 or CNM Emergency Dispatch at (505) 224-3001 for emergency assistance.
  • Non-Life-Threatening Situations: Contact CNM Security at (505) 224-3002 and encourage the injured or ill individual to seek appropriate medical care.
  • Injured employees are required to report to CNM Security and fill out a Notice of Accident From and return it to Human Resources.

Review Event Planning Risks

If you are planning to host an official event at CNM, please fill out the Event Management Safety and Risk Checklist. If you answer 'yes' to any of the questions in the checklist, you must return the completed form to Risk Management at least 10 days prior to your event.

If you are unsure whether to notify Risk Management regarding details of your event, please reach out at [email protected]. It is imperative that we ensure proper insurance coverage is in place prior to your event.

Filing a Claim with CNM

If you believe you have suffered a loss as a result of CNM operations, you may contact us and make a claim for compensation of your damages.

A CNM representative or a representative from an insurance company will investigate your claim, make a determination regarding liability, and contact you with the outcome.

If you reach voicemail, please leave your name, phone number, address, a brief description of the problem, and a preferred time to call you back. This information will help expedite your claim request. In most cases, you will be called by the next business day to confirm that your claim information has been received.
