Application Development and Support

The ITS Application Development and Support (AD&S) teams provide installation, maintenance, and customization services for CNM's enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, CNM's online services, and related third-party applications.  When required, AD&S similarly develops and maintains custom applications for use within CNM.

AD&S comprises the following teams:

  1. Banner Team
    The Banner Team provides ongoing support, maintenance, and customization of CNM's ERP system and related third-party software.
  2. Database Team
    The Database Team provides administrative support for the CNM's development and production databases used by our ERP system as-well-as third-party applications.
  3. Operations Team
    The Operations Team is responsible for fulfilling daily operations work orders, backups, and UNIX account requests for the Banner Team.
  4. Web Services Team
    The Web Services Team provides support, maintenance, and customization of CNM's web site, portal, and content management systems.
  5. Quality Assurance Team
    The QA team insures that the software development process is followed and approvals are recorded in order to protect the integrity of our systems.


Infrastructure provides support for servers, systems administration, e-mail, Internet access, networking, telecommunications, and cabling systems.

Infrastructure comprises three functional areas:

Network Support
The Network team supports CNM's Wide Area Network (WAN) connecting all four campuses. Connections to CNM's network are provided by this team. ITS houses systems requiring access to both private and public network within and external to CNM. These systems are protected using firewall technology.

Telecommunications Support
The Telecommunications team supports CNM's Voice Mail System which includes 1800 telephones and 2000 voicemail boxes. Additional support is provided for wide area circuits for voice, video, and data to the Montoya, South Valley, Work Force Training, and CNM Westside Facilities. Numbering plans, call accounting, dial tone, and long distance services are provided as well.

UNIX System Administration Support
The UNIX team provides support for the Institute's administrative application (Banner) servers. The UNIX team also supports web, Oracle database applications, student email, file and print services.

Communications Infrastructure Standards Manual (CISM)

CNM's Office of Information Technology Services, Infrastructure Support and CNM's Physical Plant Department maintain a comprehensive standards manual for structured cable plant design, installation and maintenance.  The CISM follows the CSI Master Format 2004 and defines CNM's expectations for Division 27, Communications.  All CNM employees and contractors engaged in operational support, renovations and new construction involving communications infrastructure are expected to be familiar with and adhere to the CISM. 

Information Security and Compliance

The Information Security & Compliance Team is responsible for:

  • Implementation and Maintenance of all Information Security (InfoSec) related policies and procedures
  • Implementation and Maintenance of all Information Security technical controls such as Intrusion Protection, Malware Filtering, Event Logging and Network Flow Analysis
  • Information Security Incident investigation through administrative and forensic techniques
  • Compliance with applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations as they pertain to CNM’s information technology infrastructure

The Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) staff is our greatest asset and we are entrusted with serving a diverse population with advanced information technologies. ITS is committed to establish and promote trust, integrity, honesty, and respect throughout CNM. 

Instructional Lab Support

The Instructional Lab Support group manages five computer laboratories on the first floor of the Max Salazar building on main campus -  MS101, MS102 and MS103  which are used for classroom purposes only and  MS109 and MS110 which are open computer labs. Together these labs are known as the Sciences, Engineering and Arts (SEA) Computer Center.

Desktop Support

The Desktop Support Group provides support for all desktop systems for our Faculty and Staff, and some of our computer labs here at CNM.  This includes installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware and software. 

Our group consists of 20 Desktop Support  Specialists and Technicians who have many years of providing desktop support.  We maintain standards for installing all CNM supported software and provide technical assistance to the different areas in CNM's community.
