Campus Safety Awareness Month

In 2008, National Campus Safety Awareness Month (NCSAM) was unanimously approved by Congress to encourage a public conversation on important topics in violence prevention at our nation’s colleges and universities.

The CNM Security Department will host activities during the month of September to promote safety awareness on campus.

Suncat Days

The Security Department will have a booth during Suncat Days and would love for students and employees to stop by.  Find out what services Security offers and whys to remain safe on campus.

Information and Treats

September 7-9

Security will be out and about providing security information and a small treat to help you get through the day. We hope to encourage communication and positive interactions between security and the CNM Community.

Treats provided by the Executive Council of Students (ECOS).

Active Shooter Training

September 14: 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Location: Main Campus / Smith Brasher (SB) Hall / 101

The Active Shooter training focuses on Situational Awareness; Mindset of an Active Shooter; the practice of Run, Hide or Fight; and Law Enforcement Response. The training concludes with a practical exercise and is open to all students and employees.

Lifesaver/Stop the Bleed Training

September 15: 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

The Lifesavers training is provided by Albuquerque Fire Rescue and the CNM Security Department and is open to all students and employees.  The training teaches participants how to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.

Presentation discusses the hallmarks of a respectful and healthy relationship versus an unhealthy relationship and red flags to be aware of. We will go over communication skills, conflict resolutions, the power & control wheel, and how participation and involvement in an unhealthy relationship can potentially lead to more severe dangers regarding sexual violence.
