ABQid and NM Angels Join Forces to Grow Impact Through Quarterly Investor Roundtable Series
ABQid, powered by CNM Ingenuity, and NM Angels, under the new leadership of Drew Tulchin, are joining forces to increase the number of interactions between early stage startup companies and angel investors through New Mexico Investor Roundtables. These will be hosted quarterly, starting Nov. 20.
Tulchin said this is exactly the type of collaboration NM Angels are excited to forge moving forward. "A major advantage for us all here in New Mexico is to provide entrepreneurs with informal connection with members in our group, and many of those angels love to provide feedback early on - which forge relationships and help the community. This new quarterly format will do just that."
"We hosted a virtual roundtable in April with seven founders and ten investors," ABQid Executive Director T.J. Cook said. "It drove a catalytic investment within two weeks of the event. Now we want to replicate and expand on that success with more angel investors involved."
Startups which are a part of ActivateNM, ABQid's tech-focused accelerator, are automatically considered for the event. In addition, any NM start-up eager to learn from and build relationships with local investors is encouraged to contact ABQid to express interest. Unlike ABQid's popular pitch events—Ski Lift Pitch and Balloon Pitch—this event is not a competition and is focused on driving learnings and relationships for companies just starting to pursue investment.
To participate in future events, startup founders should contact ABQid. Investors should indicate interest to NM Angels (www.nmangels.com). Each quarterly event will then curate from interest on both sides to maximize learning and connectivity according to fit. Cook and Tulchin said that six founders and twelve investors are the target for the November 20 event.
Both organizations welcome all others who want to collaborate on collective solutions for start-ups in New Mexico. New Mexico Angels Board Chair, Sherman McCorkle observed, “This type of collaboration will be rewarding to both angel investors and entrepreneurs and is demonstrative of excellent public/private partnerships.” They look forward to sharing more news on joint programming for 2021.
