Five CNM Students Win Medals at National SkillsUSA Championships

June 28, 2017 -- Five CNM students earned medals at this year’s National SkillsUSA Championships held last week in Louisville, Ky., where 6,000 Career Technical Education (CTE) students from around the country put their skills to the test. It’s the largest showcase event in the country for CTE students.

CNM Conducts Drone Workshops for Mapping Professionals

June 28, 2017 -- Thirty members of New Mexico’s surveying and mapping community attended CNM-sponsored workshops May 19 and June 2 on the operation of small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS), commonly known as drones, and using an onboard camera to obtain mapping data and produce digital terrain models.

CNM to Rejuvenate Plumbing and Gas Fitting Program

June 27, 2017 -- After being dormant for several terms, the School of Applied Technologies is rejuvenating the Plumbing and Gas Fitting Program, and courses are being offered for the 2017 Fall Term. This effort will be led by newly-hired, full-time instructor Kenny Graves.

CNM Veterans Resource Center to Become Model for Rural Veterans Grant Program

June 7, 2017 -- The Rural Veterans Coordination Pilot grant program, operated through the Veterans Health Administration Office of Rural Health, has rated CNM’s Veterans Resource Center (VRC) as excellent for its size and breadth of service. The organization is going to use the center as a national model for two-year colleges across the nation.

CNM Ingenuity Offers Online Course on How to be a Certified Ethical Hacker

May 23, 2017 -- CNM Ingenuity is offering an advanced on-demand, online course on how to be a Certified Ethical Hacker. The class is designed for people who have positions such as information security analyst, security engineer, penetration tester, security analyst, information security engineer, information security manager or cybersecurity analyst.

Sculpture Commemorating CNM’s 50th Anniversary Being Erected on Main Campus

May 22, 2017 -- A 20-foot tall, five-piece sculpture installation made of Corten steel and stainless steel is starting to take its place on the southwest corner of the CNM Student Resource Center on Main Campus. Part of the monumental artwork, titled “Growing Strength,” was erected last week with installation completion expected by the end of June. A dedication and public lecture will be scheduled in mid-September.

CNM’s IGNITE Accelerator Grads to Showcase Businesses to Community Friday

May 16, 2017 -- The fifth cohort of entrepreneurs to participate in CNM Ingenuity’s IGNITE Community Accelerator will celebrate the conclusion of an intensive 10-week program by pitching their companies and demonstrating their products to the community on IGNITE Day. IGNITE Day takes place on Friday, May 19, from 3-5 p.m. on CNM’s Main Campus in the Student Resource Center (SRC), Richard Barr Boardroom.

Brothers Use CNM Education to Grow Family Business

May 16, 2017 -- As Mike and Vivian Herrmann’s family business grew, so did three of their sons who all attended CNM’s School of Applied Technologies at varying times. Using the knowledge they gained at the college, each eventually became an integral part of the family’s design, prototyping and injection molding company, Vamco.
