March 15, 2018 -- CNM’s Education programs will be hosting renowned literacy educator and author, Harvey “Smokey” Daniels, on April 4, from 7-8 pm in the Smith Brasher Hall Auditorium, Room 101. Smokey Daniels, a former urban and suburban classroom teacher and college professor, now works as a consultant and author on literacy education. He’s worked with elementary and secondary teachers throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe.

Kathlynn Roberts a 2017-18 Distinguished Faculty Award Winner

Kathy, a part-time faculty member in the School of Health, Wellness & Public Safety, has graciously stepped-up as the Radiologic Technology Interim Clinical Coordinator for the last three terms. Additionally, she volunteered to cover some classes during the end of the fall term when there was an immediate program vacancy. She is also teaching didactic courses this term in additional to her other duties.

Clint Reecer a 2017-18 Distinguished Faculty Award Winner

March 8, 2018 -- Clint Reecer, a part-time faculty member in the School of Business & Information Technology, is consistently recognized by students, colleagues, and supervisors as an excellent instructor. He seeks out and utilizes best practices and is always improving his teaching methods by incorporating new educational techniques and tools in his classroom. It’s part of the reason he earned CNM’s top overall distinction for part-time faculty members for 2017-18.

College & Career High School Posts 97.4% Grad Rate for 2017 Cohort

March 1, 2018 -- For the 2017 cohort of high school students, the College & Career High School on CNM’s Main Campus posted a 97.4% graduate rate, the highest rate of any Albuquerque Public Schools high school, according to the New Mexico Public Education Department. The CCHS has climbed each year since the first cohort in 2014 posted a 92.6% graduation rate.

Theatre Department’s Spring Production of ‘Proof’ Opens March 16

Feb. 27, 2018 -- CNM’s Theatre Department is proud to present “Proof” beginning March 16 at the Coal Avenue Theatre (CAT) on Main Campus. “Proof,” written by David Auburn, is directed by CNM faculty member Joanne Camp Sobel. The play was a winner of both the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play.

Feb. 27, 2018 -- Local employers who are seeking to recruit CNM students for employment will attend CNM’s monthly student recruitment event on Wednesday, March 7, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Main Campus in the Student Services Center lobby. Employers will provide information on career opportunities and can provide feedback on student resumes and interview questions.

She uses many best practices in her classroom pedagogy including active learning, flipped classrooms, and service learning.

New SFI Cafe Doubles as Unique Business Incubator for Students
