COVID-19 Veterans Information

While CNM is under modified operations, here is a simplified guide for Veterans Education benefits to help you choose the best approach to continue your education for the summer and fall terms.

New Law Helps You Out

Recently passed (and renewed) federal legislation for Veterans will help you continue your classes and receive your stipend at the level that you started at for the spring term. This law is extended to December 21, 2021.

For example, if your spring class was originally meant to be attended in-person and converted to an online course (distance learning) due to COVID-19, you will continue to receive your education stipend and monthly housing rate for resident training.

Continue Your Program

We suggest that you continue your program as best as possible. Check the CNM Catalog and Degree Works to see what kind of classes are in your program that can be completed.

Certify Your Courses as Early as Possible

Send a digital copy of your schedule to Log into myCNM and save a PDF of your schedule and attach it as an email to us.

If you need help with this new process, please leave a voicemail at (505) 224-3118 with your name, ID number, and your question(s). We will return your call promptly during our business hours.

Labs and In-Person Only Classes

If you have a lab or class that can only be completed in-person (examples can include Automotive, Chemistry Lab, or Culinary), which is a co-requisite to a course or pre-requisite to another course, and cannot be completed or temporarily discontinued, it may result in slowing down your education progress and may affect your future monthly housing allowance. Check the CNM Catalog and Degree Works to see what other classes can be completed during this time.

Illness due to COVID-19

If you become ill due to COVID-19 and you are unable to continue school, please let us know as soon as possible. We can help guide you to the best grading option possible, such as withdrawal or incomplete.

In addition, please follow the New Mexico Department of Health Guidance for COVID-19.
