CNM President Kathie Winograd listens to Mayor Berry declare Feb. 22 Career Technical Education Day in Albuquerque.

It was the first time CNM hosted a CTE Open House. The college put 30 of its CTE programs on display for students, providing demonstrations and some hands-on activities in fields like nursing, welding, aviation maintenance, fire science and laser technology (photonics), just to name a few.

CNM offers certificates and associate degrees in 56 CTE programs, all of which are designed to meet workforce needs in the community. Most can be completed in anywhere from one semester to two years.

By the year 2020, more than 60 percent of all jobs in the U.S. are expected to require at least a certificate or associate degree.
