RecycleMania Tourney Under Way – Ramp Up Recycling to Help CNM and Environment Score Big

Feb. 3, 2014 -- The 2014 RecycleMania Tournament has begun, with more than 600 colleges and universities around the country and Canada vying for recycling greatness. CNM is competing in the competitive “Grand Champion” category against 84 other colleges and universities.

In a preseason trial run last week, CNM recycled 45.43 percent of its waste, ranking 19th. Click here to see the preseason standings.

Today, the official two-month tournament begins. The winning colleges and universities will receive trophies made of recycled materials and bragging rights as national recycling champions. More importantly, however, is the recycling awareness that will be brought to CNM and campuses across the country in this unifying movement to preserve the environment.

New recycling bins (large green cardboard containers) have been placed across all of CNM’s locations, so look for your closest recycle bin and start contributing to the health of the environment. The below image lets you know what’s recyclable and what’s not. Start identifying all potential waste that’s recyclable and help CNM score.

CNM has also set up its own RecycleMania website so you can keep up with the latest information and weekly standings, and learn more about the effort.
