January 5, 2017 -- About 500 CNM students preparing for healthcare careers have benefited from a $2 million SUN PATH grant awarded to the School of Health, Wellness & Public Safety. More students will benefit from the program over the final two years of the grant.
Dec. 16, 2016 -- All CNM campuses and offices will be closed from Dec. 19 through Jan. 1 for Winter Break.
December 13, 2016 -- The new ground-source heating and cooling system and other improvements that are part of the major renovation of Smith Brasher Hall on Main Campus are expected to save CNM about $96,480 annually. That includes a roughly 33 percent reduction in electricity costs and a total elimination of gas charges.
December 7, 2016 -- CRIANZA, an early childhood business accelerator, graduated 31 participants on Dec. 3 at CNM’s South Valley Campus. The home-based early childhood business accelerator, called “Aceleradora,” is the second cohort to complete 40 hours of instruction with 17 hours of individual coaching.
December 7, 2016 -- CNM English Instructor Julie Dunlop is the recipient of the Bosque Press Editors’ 2016 Poetry Prize. Five of her poems appear in the Bosque Press’s 2016 publication, "bosque 6." She was honored at a reading Dec. 1 at Bookworks in Albuquerque.
December 7, 2016 -- An exhibition of student drawings called “Wondergarden” is on display now through the end of the 2017 Spring Term in the Louis E. Saavedra Administration (LSA) Building on Main Campus. The students were all in a 2016 Westside Campus Drawing I class. Each 18"x24" drawing is made using white chalk on black paper.
December 6. 2016 -- A total of 633 Central New Mexico Community College graduates and 49 GED graduates will participate in the CNM Fall Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 10, at noon at Tingley Coliseum on the grounds of EXPO New Mexico. About 7,000 family members and friends of the graduates are expected to be in attendance to celebrate the life-changing moment.
November 30, 2016 -- CNM faculty member Dr. Richard Watson, who is working with the School of Applied Technologies (AT) to implement a small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS or drone) program, successfully passed his Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 exam in November and received a Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Airman Certificate.
November 29, 2016 -- Seventy faculty and staff from 11 New Mexico colleges are expected to attend a Simulation Training Conference Dec. 2 at CNM’s Simulation Center on Main Campus. Participants will learn about using simulation-based learning for health sciences and public safety programs and careers.
November 29, 2016 -- In nature, chimpanzees, orangutans and gorillas have to work for a living – to find food, make nests and locate shelter. In zoos, of course, they don’t have to do much work because everything is provided, and their environments are sometimes unexciting.
November 29, 2016 -- Four CNM students recently traveled to Medellin, Colombia as part of an exchange program with Colombia’s Servicio National de Aprendizaje (SENA) to participate in a one-month Cisco Systems computer networking certification program. SENA is a technical school with campuses throughout Colombia.

November 16, 2016 -- CNM recently signed an agreement with Lewis University to provide a convenient, cost-effective way for CNM students who have earned their Associate of Arts degree or their Associate of Applied Science degree to receive a tuition discount at Lewis University’s Albuquerque location.
