Governing Board Announces Finalists for CNM Presidency

Public invited to forums with finalists Oct. 21-30

The Central New Mexico Community College Governing Board has named six finalists for the CNM presidency and invites the public and the CNM community to attend open forums with the finalists that will begin on Monday, Oct. 21, and continue through Wednesday, Oct. 30.

A 24-person Presidential Search Committee that included community members reviewed all candidates, identified and interviewed semi-finalists, and made recommendations for the finalists. After the forums and interviews with the finalists, the CNM Governing Board plans to identify and announce the next CNM president at the Nov. 12 Governing Board meeting.

“We’re pleased and grateful that we have six very talented leaders who are very well-suited to guide CNM into the future and advance the College’s vision of Changing Lives, Building Community,” said Governing Board Chair Pauline Garcia. “We’re excited to introduce these finalists to the community and we encourage everybody who is interested in the future direction of CNM to participate in this very important process to identify the next president of CNM.”

The finalists are:

  • Tracy Hartzler, CNM Vice President for Finance & Operations
  • G.H. Javaheripour, President of Yuba College in Marysville, California
  • Julie Leidig, Provost of Loudoun Campus at Northern Virginia Community College
  • Bernadette Montoya, Leadership Development Facilitator for the Chair Academy for Leadership Development at Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona
  • Elena Sandoval-Lucero, Vice President of Boulder County Campus of Front Range Community College in Longmont, Colorado
  • Samantha Sengel, CNM Vice President for Advancement & Enrollment Strategy

Each finalist will participate in public forums at each of CNM’s five campuses. Attendees will have the opportunity to provide important feedback that will be considered by the CNM Governing Board. Here’s the schedule:
